From Askøy to Ability.
Ability has roots going back to 1991, when we started out as Askøy Vask on Askøy outside Bergen. The company was founded by me and my brother, and together we built the business through those first years.
In 2009 I became both managing director and principal owner of the company, and carried on alongside Erik Rødder, who until his passing in 2025 was sales and marketing director. Through more than thirty years of development and change, identity crises and name changes — and not least ups and downs — we feel entitled to say that we are proud to have pulled off the feat of surviving. And not only that.
That we can still say Ability is Norwegian, privately held and family-owned. We are not an international group or a buyout fund. That gives us a long-term perspective and the freedom to build further on what was started on Askøy in 1991.
Our history, year by year.
